James McBride’s storyline cruised through the Projects of Brooklyn and the Five Ends Baptist Church without a hitch. Well, almost. Drug dealers. Contract killers. Drunks. Italian mobsters. Cops on the take. King Kong (moonshine). Love lost. Spirituality. Understanding. Compassion. Redemption. And CHEESE!.
